WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W. VA. (June 4) -- Frank P. Popoff,
president and chief executive officer of the Dow Chemical Company,
today was elected chairman of the board of the Chemical Manufacturers
Association at the group's annual meeting here. He succeeds John W.
Johnstone, Jr., chairman, president and chief executive officer of Olin
Corporation.
Earnest W. Deavenport, Jr., president of Eastman Chemical Company,
was elected vice chairman of the board. J. Roger Hirl, president and
chief executive officer of Occidental Chemical Corporation, was elected
chairman of the executive committee.
Robert A. Roland was reelected president of the Association.
