Schenectady Plant Building 269 - Room 212 Schenectady, New York Re: Non Asbestos Insulation "Panelex" Dear Mr. Hamilton: Referring to your conversation with our District Sales Manager, Mr. T. Hall, we wish to present for consideration of acceptance our new non-asbestos insulating castable, troweling mix and block called "Panelex". Anticipating the Federal regulations on the possible health hazards of asbestos, Quigley embarked on an extensive research effort to develop a high quality, non-asbestos, safe to use, insulation. Of particular interest was its use on boilers, turbines and general power plant requirement. Panelex has been on the market since February, 1972 and in that time it has gained acceptance wherever it has been used. Realizing the total safety requirements outlined by OSHA we submitted to them for evaluation our data. We have since received from OSHA a clean bill of health and we are classifying "Panelex" as a nuisance dust. Having had the product on the market and getting an extremely favorable reaction from OSHA we feel we have covered all the areas of major concern to our customers. I have attached for your review and consideration 3 copies of the following documents: a) Technical data sheet for Panelex (castable & block) b) Technical data sheet for Panelex T-P (Troweling & spraying) c) OSHA data sheet for Panelex A Subtitf'try f PFIZER INC. 1 6 668 Mr. T. We have received your Specification 233A9930 "General Specification for Heat Retention Material" and we wish to be considered in the following classifications: a) Sec. 4.1- Plastic Insulation, Type A b) Sec. 4. 2 - Sprayed Insulation, Type C c) Sec. 4. 3 - Block type D d) Sec. 4. 4 - Block and Plastic combination We wish to point out that with Panelex the finishing c . ent Type E is not required since Panelex itself acts as a finishing cement. We believe the above is sufficient for evaluation, however if you require samples of additional data we will be most happy to supply same.
