The CAER system depends upon individual facility managers to work within their communities to coordinate emergency response planning, and Texas Chemical Council (TCC) has an important facilitating role in helping this program to be successful in Texas. As you know, we co-sponsored a workshop with the CMA on June 5, 1985 to describe the CAER program to our members. At the same time a Community/Industry Emergency Response Committee within TCC was established with the following major objectives: - Assist local facility managers as needed in implementing the CAER program - Monitor progress and promote information exchange - Develop/implement effective public and government relations programs - Maintain liaison with CMA and Chemical associations in other states - Coordinate CAER with other issues such as Right-to-Know and transportation safety as well as clarifying possible areas of overlapping jurisdiction among agencies Attached you will find a list of members serving on. this committee. is actively pursuing these objectives and appreciates your support. them with your questions and suggestions.
