The PVC pipe being recalled may not comply with the maximum permissible level of 2.0 ppm of residual vinyl chloride monomer (RVCM) in N5F Standard 14. PVC pipe with levels greater than 2.0 ppm of RVCM may leach vinyl chloride monomer to water in excess of Che 2.0 ppb maximum permissible limit in the USEPA Primary Drinking Water Regulations. The PVC pipe being recalled was manufactured between December 2, 1967 through December 23, 1987 and January 12, 1988 through January 29, 1988. All of the pipe bears specific production codes that relate to the dates of production. The dates of production can be determined from the production codes, as explained in the following example: M875L12B - Produced December 12, 1987 . The first two numbers (8 and 7) after the letter M, indicates the year. . The middle letter Indicates the month. In the example, "L" is for December. (For production codes with an "A" instead of an "L", the "A" is for January.) . The last one or two numbers (preceding the last letter) indicates Che day of the month. In the example, 1 and 2 Indicates the 12th of December.
