This is particularly true of persons who come from another country for whom one accepts the responsibility of guaranteeing employment. Moreover, in the presently disturbed political situation of your country, the difficulties associated with obtaining reliable information are great indeed. I wonder whether you have any knowledge of this man, either technically or personally, and whether you would be prepared to let me have (confidentially, if you wish, of course) any information in your possession. I would be most appreciative of any advice you can give. Since I am only an indirect source of information to my friends in the Laboratory, there will be no record of anything you may have to say, beyond my personal files, which are not and will not be open to anyone else in the Laboratory.
