CARMAN v`-.i The meeting was called to order at 7:55 F.M, with Dr, Frederick in the Chair, The minutes of the meeting of October 19, 1950 were approved without reading, RULES & REGULATIONS There was no further progress to report since the Chairman of the Board has not yet had a chance to consider the recommendations of the Legal Advisory Committee and report back to this group, PLASTICS COMMITTEE MEMBER Messrs, Hoover, Landes and Rodgers had considered a replacement for Mr. F, N. Williams who had submitted his resignation from the Plastics Committee. Mr. Hoover, reporting for the group, recommended that Mr. M, G. Hilliken be designated Vice Chairman of the Committee and that Mr. F. A. Abbiati of Mon santo Chemical Co, be nominated as member of the Plastics Committee, This recommendation, on being duly seconded, was passed unanimously. At this point, the Chairman advised that Mr. A. E. Pitcher had been in vited to attend this meeting especially since Mr. Williams was to be present. Mr. Pitcher had forwarded a letter to Chairman Frederick expressing his regrets on being unable to attend especially in view of the change in Mr. Williams' ac tivities; he also expressed sincere wishes to Mr. Williams for his continued success, PUBLIC RELATIONS The Chairman asked Mr. Taylor, Executive Vice President of M.C.A., to briefly review his plans to discuss the subject of public relations in the forthcoming meeting. There`were no further suggestions from the members other than those already supplied Mr. Taylor by the Washington office. Li [l is CMA078105 Plastics Committee -2- Nov. 8, 1950 N.P.A. ACTIVITIES The Chairman advised that he had consulted with hr. Joseph Bates, Director of the Chemical Division of N.P.A. regarding their plans for personnel with res pect to plastic materials. Because of the need for attention to other matters and the limited time he had been in this new organization, there has been little attention to plastics as yet. The Chairman indicated he would continue liaison with the N.P.A. Chemical group. TRAFFIC COMMITTEE One of the problems presented by the Chairman of the Plastics Subcommittee had been referred to the Board by the full M.C.A. Committee; it was subsequently agreed that if at all possible some procedure to take care of the problem should be developed within the scope of present Committee policy. The Washington office has consulted with the Chairman of the Plastics Subcommittee and it was mutually agreed that this particular item could probably be handled as an individual com pany matter and that further action by the group would not be requested for the present. Mr. A. E. O'Brien of Bakelite has been formally appointed to the Plastics Subcommittee. The Washington office will consult further with several members regarding other traffic problems which have been held in abeyance pending satisfactory solution of the item presented in the recent meeting. NEXT MEETING The next meeting of the Plastics Committee will be held at the Union League Club, New York City, Wednesday, December 13, 1950 beginning with luncheon at twelve-thirty.
