Chamberlain, Director of Purchasing 0. M. Scott & Sons Marysville, OH 43040 Dear Sarge: I have received your letter of June 27, 1978, stating that 0. M. Scott & Sons meets all requirements for safe handling of Libby vermiculite and requesting that we remove the warning placards from the rail cars shipped from Libby to Marysville. We will comply with your request upon your agreement to the following conditions: 1. Scott will inform all of its employees who may be exposed to the potential hazards of asbestiform tremolite of their exposure even if the level of exposure is below the present 0SHA standard. 2. Scott will assure through thorough and extensive measurements of personnel exposures that tremolite fiber levels are always below 2 f/ml (8 hr TWA) and 10 f/ml (15 min max) in Scott's use of our vermiculite. 3. We will be advised of any changes that could cause you to exceed the fiber count limits of present or future 0SHA standards. Please indicate your concurrence with the foregoing by signing and re turning to me the enclosed copy of this letter. Call me if you have any questions concerning the above.
