Kehoe, Dear Dr. Kehoe: . * I have your letter of the 11th in which you state that you would like to make public the names of the donors of the laboratory building in order that ^ your position may be understood amongst University and scientific men. This I should think most desirable from your standpoint, as there should not under any circum stances be any question about it. Sometimes an uninten i tional failure to disclose a fact leads to an unlooked for embarrassment. There is no reason why there should be any in connection with the case in hand. We have no reason for wishing the name of our company withheld in connection with the gift. Needless to say, in making the latter statement it is not prompted by any desire to have it appear that we are seeking any publicity about the gift, but do so in order that you may be at liberty to use our connection with it in any fashion you think is appropriate. We will leave it to your good judgment to give out such statement as you feel the occasion requires, and it will not be necessary for you to provide us with a copy of it before- hand. ^7 lours very truly, CaxsxM, \\ A:H ' ^ October 11, 1929 Mr. E. W. Webb, Ethyl Gasoline Corp., 25 Broadway, New York City. Dear Mr. Webb: About a week ago it was announced in the public press that money had been given to the Univer sity of Cincinnati for the erection of our new labor atory building. This was given out on the occasion of the completion of all the plans and specifications for the 'building, and the signing of the contract with the architects for the beginning of work immediately. * The names of the donors were not given out at this time, the reason being that at the time of the recent scare in Chicago over various types of refrigerants the Frigidalr Corporation did not choose to have * their name used in connection with experimental toxi cologic work. As far as I can see the occasion for any hesitation on this score has now passed, and I should like to make public at once the names of the donors of the building in order that our exact posi tion may be understood among University and scientific men. '. I should appreciate it very much if you would let me know by return mail whether you have any reason for wishing the name of your Corporation with held in connection with this gift. If for any reason you may wish to see what is given out I should be glad to provide you with a copy for your comment before it is given out. Needless to say I am very happy over having the matter under way, and I have a distinct feeling that it is a situation in which the Corporations concerned should feel very good rather than to have any hesitancy over the acknowledgment of a gen erous and genuinely philanthropic Impulse. Sincerely yours, RAK:EJ ^ % "
