The minutes of the" prior meeting on November 18, 1987 were approved as previously distributed. * DKS 153 2- - Committee reports were given as follows: A) ASTM - Chemical 1'. There was a unanimous vote that a letter should be sent to ASTM from ISEA stating a position against "recommended" language in labeling proposal because of its confusing nature. 2. Heat Protective Clothing - Update only No action items. 3. It was announced that the ASTM F-23 Sympo sium on Protective Clothing will be held in San Diego January 15-17, 1989. 4. A new standard test method for cut resis tance is out to ballot. 5. A New Bylaws Ballot is also out for review. B) ASTM - Heat - no action items C) NFPA - Suits and Third Party Certification: 1. Three new proposed standards were discussed. 2. Two standards (1991 and 1992) were sent to the Technical Committee for voting. While the ISEA SWAG wholeheartedly supports the concept of third-party certification,-' because of considerable confusion in NFPA's process the ISEA SWAG will support a negative vote to 1991 and 1992 Third Party Certifica tion requirement in December 1988. There was a unanimous vote in favor of this action. D) NFPA - Gloves Update on "1 Inch Over Wrist Break" design requirement Update on "F1060 TPP Hot Surface Contact Requirement Update on "D4108 TPP Open Flame" DKS 154 -3- E) EPA Pesicide Program An Update was given on Heat Stress concern and inconsistent PPE Requirements (Respir ator vs Clothing) 40 CFR 156 and 70) . ISEA provided comments to EPA on this proposal F) Superfund - SARA No new updates 2. There being no further business to come before the meeting a motion to adjourn was adopted.
