N LIMITER confidence, unbounded enthusiasm, together with a most careful interest in the business of the various sessions, were the striking features of the annual convention that has just passed into the history of the Company. The Twenty-second Annual Convention was remarkable in many ways. It was the largest ever held. And in numbers there is power. Every man. who answered the roll call, felt himself to be an integral part of the Company's organisation--anxious to receive help, willing to give assistance. There is strength in such unity. Throughout there was enthusiasm of the highest order, to the highest degree. Inspiration is bom of such enthusiasm. New ideas, new propositions, greater plans for the future were presented with intelligence, vigor, and confidence. Such things hold great promise and augur continued success. Confidence in yourself--in the goods--in the Company, the keynote of the convention, conveys a very truthful impression of the spirit that pervaded every meeting. Xo shadow of a doubt was expressed. Every one possessed absolute faith. There was no fear ol obstacles. Competition had no terrors. The Company's unrivalled progress was to continue. This confidence was general, each one felt its strengthening influence, from the President of the Company to the new salesman fresh from his latest lecture in the training school. There were many good reasons for this confidence. The last year can be written on the records as "the best yet." It was successful in every way. It was a year of expansion m all lines. The increase in sales exceeded estimates. A linseed oil plant, in which the Company is making, treating, and refining its own linseed oil, has been established. The plants at Chicago. Montreal, and Newark have been materially improved anti enlarged. A new division, the Southwestern, with headquarters at Kansas City, has been established. Our export trade has advanced by leaps and bounds. The annual conventions have increased in si/.e. importance, and interest until they are now looked upon by the management as the chief event of the business year. Nothing else more adequately illustrates the steady growth and progress of the Company in the paint world than these annual gatherings. TheConvention asSeen by the Representatives HK success of the Convention, was an ever recurring subject of conversation to the representatives. Its influence and results had exceeded expectations. Upon every occasion, when two or three representatives got together, such expressions would be heard as. -- most enthusiastic," -"greatest confidence," --best ever." They were so impressed by this year's meeting that they could speak of it only in superlatives. In an attempt to obtain a more explicit expression on the influence and help of this Convention, brief interviews were hail with several of the old rep resentatives ami those who were attending their first Convention, from each division. Our products are as neat perfection as pos sible : the representative* are better in formed. and have more assurance, nowudtyy, and are able to investigate and deal with complaints rhemsehes.
