Several weeks ago, we had a suicide attempt by one of our more respected employees, Kevin Bauman, our TempRite Operations Supervisor (responsible for Safety and Training in the department). The attempt was a quite serious one, in that he used a 16-gauge shotgun to the chest. It appears he will fully recover physically, but is in the care of psychiatric doctors, as well. Kevin is 58 years old, has 35 years of BFG service, and is in excellent physical health.
If Kevin would have been successful, he would have been the 14th suicide since 1954 from our plant. Would you please have a look at the statistics and make a determination whether there is a situation we should be addressing. I have attached a list of the known deaths by suicide for your review.
