March 31, 1969 Dr. Ethan Allan Brown 75 Bay Stats Hoad Boston, Massachusetts 02215 Dear Dr. Brown: I am complimented by the request in your letter of March 27 for an abstract of my contribution to an article in Atmospheric Environment 2(5), 517-534, 1968. However, this contribution consisted only of comments on certain aspects of the article, and I hardly consider it to be of such scope as to deserve abstracting. If the Review of Allergy should wish to have an abstract from me on the subject of lead in the common human environment, including the influence of traffic, it would be more to the point to deal with a* more comprehensive article. I have prepared an article for presentation at the next Air Pollution Control Association in New York in June, which will answer that purpose. I do not wish to be uncooperative, but I do not like to have more or less fragmentary discussions of this subject credited to me as though they were adequate in dealing with the larger problem. For that reason, I was somewhat loath to respond to the request that I comment on the original article. Let me say, however, that I am not sidestepping the issue, if there is one, and if there should seem to be good reason to introduce a note of moderation in connection with public policy, I would be prepared to alter my own view accordingly.
