PRIMARY SKIM IRRITATION AMD SSNSITIZATIOM TEST OM GUINEA PIGS
Procedure: A range-finding study was conducted with 3 male albino guinea
pigs to test for skin irritation potential. This material was a skin
irritant as low ae 252 in distilled water; it did not irritate the skin at
5X.T
The primary irritation test was conducted on 10 unexposed guinea pigs by applying and lightly rubbing in 0.05 ml of a 252 and 2.52 solution of the test material in distilled water on shaved, intact shoulder skin.
The induction phase for sensitization was a series of 4 sacral
incrademal injections of 0.1 -al if a 1.02 solution la distilled water, 1
each week beginning 2 days J^v the tesc for primary irritation.
After a 14-day rest pts.!(A,^s test guinea pigs were challenged for sensitization by applying and lightly rubbing in 0.05 cil of a 252 and a 2.5S solution of test material in dis;".led water on shaved, Intact shoulder skin. At the same time 10 unesposed guinea pigs (controls) of the sane age received identical topical applications.
