Hi Ali,
Congrats on the appointment to lead public affairs for DOT and thanks for your work to bring new rail service to the US. I had two tours at DOT--the first at FRA and then at the FAA. I think you'll find the position to be one of the most exciting around. And my colleague, Meg Thurlow, served in your position previously.
Once you get settled more, we'd be happy to grab coffee to see where we can support you and some shared goals. One area is likely building a skilled US aerospace workforce where GE Aerospace--whose engines power three of four commercial aircraft--had some good news today.
The first class of apprentices graduated from our Lafayette, Indiana, program with their FAA powerplant license, providing them the skills needed to assemble and repair jet engines. This is part of our effort to build a larger skilled aerospace workforce, along with investing hundreds of millions in US manufacturing.
Again, congrats on the role, and look forward to helping however we can.
Matt
