So. it was a very good occasion to know the outline of EPA for PFOS. For Dainippon Ink & Chemicals Inc. ( D.I.C.), it is the management policy to have responsibilities for the environment and for the quality of our products, and our whole businesses are following this policy. Also, D.I.C. recognize the 3MJs opinion and the EPA's direction supporting 3M. Accordingly D.I.C. care about our products concerning with per-fluoro octanyls which is provided for consumer's uses, and we have decided to phase out them, such as water and oil repellant, some polymer additives. However, differ from 3M, most customers of D.I.C. are locating in the professional or the critical field. In your explanation on 19 th June 2000 in ACC conference, some regulations shall be in force for PFOS. We, D.I.C., would like to know your opinion more exactly as soon as possible, because we have some customers they are standing in the professional or the critical field of use, and they are exporting their products containing PFOS of us from Japan to U.S.A. . If EPA should regulate the import of any kind of products which containing PFOS to U.S.A., not only companies, our customers mentioned, shoujd get a very severe blow even if they are the huge or the excellent, but also the general citizen in U.S.A., too. Now, EPA and 3M are negotiating about " the critical use however such our customers should be standing in the different field from 3M?s one. So we ask you earnestly to start negotiation with us immediately for our customers who are exporting there products which are containing PFOS to U.SA., and which are available to " the critical use " we think. I would appreciate it if you would accept our ask, offer, above and reply your opinion to us, soon. Also I would appreciate it if you would suggest us the procedure of this negotiation too.
