BUTT E D UP THSHT To cov e R ;M 3.3 No box cover for fittings of a dow or steam jacketed process line shall be filled with a fill material. 3.3a The flanges of flanged fittings do not acquire suf ficient heat, by conduction, from the fitting body but require the heat radiating from the jumpers and jacket to keep them at an operable temperature. 3.3b Filling of the box will kill this source of heat and the fitting temperature will drop below that re quired for good polymer flow. 3.3c A box cover will act as an oven attaining a temper ature inside equal to that of the dow jumpers and will keep the flanges at the desired temperature as long as the box is built and kept free of cracks.
