BASIC APPLICATION LO-TEMP EQUIPMENT & DUCTWORK SECTION 3 paae 24 6B2 securing flange insulation 6B2.1 Fixed flange insulation shall be secured with one 3/4" wide band for each 6" of flange cover width but with not less than 2 bands. 6B2.2 Portable covers shall be secured with case latch removable straps. (See note) NOTE: Removable straps are made with l" wide S/S band and #210 case latches. 6B3 DUCT INSUL-PIN SPACING 6B3.1 The insulation on top and side surfaces shall be held in place with insul-pins. The top insulation shall be held in place by the bedding mastic. 6B3.2 On bottom surfaces the pins shall be spaced to allow 8 pins for each 12" x 36" board of insulation. (See figure 30) 6B3.3 Longitudinally, on bottom surfaces, the pins shall be spaced on 9" centers starting'4|" from the end of the duct. (See figure 30) If the application begins at a flanged joint the pins shall start 4" plus the thickness of a fixed flange cover disc or, if a portable cover, 4|" plus bolt removal space, measured from the ends of the flange bolts.
