Olson, welcomed two new member companies: Polimeros de Mexico Mr. Felipe Monti el - Representative Petroquimica of Colombia Mr. Rudolfo Gedeon - Representative The secretary reported that a survey of correspondence in the files indicate personal tape recorders are not allowed at the meetings and the master recording is available on loan to member companies, but no requests have been made to-date. Mr. Jerry Cope substituted for Bill Hager, treasurer, and presented the treasurer's report (copy attached). Bill Hager and Herb Olson were elected to the permanent offices of Treasurer and Secretary respectively. The question of representatives from a division of a member company attending the VCSA meeting even though the division was not directly involved in the manufacture or use of VCM was brought up for discussion by chairman Art Gellner. It was agreed that the letter of the by-laws should be follow ed ie "Membership shall be open to any manufacturer or user of vinyl chloride". The meetings will therefore be limited to representatives of manufacturing or using plants. It was disclosed that one person was asked to leave our meeting Sept. 13 because he did not represent a manufacturing or using facility. Locations for next years meeting were presented to the membership for selection - Bermuda and a resort area in the Atlanta, Ga. area. Dallas, Texas was suggested as a third possibility. The vote of members present was: Bermuda - 17 Atlanta - 8 Dallas - 6 The question of whether or not the official taping of our meetings was actually necessary was asked by Art Gellner. John Barr made the motion to put the question to the members by mail. The motion was seconded by Bob Laundrie and passed by the membership. OCC 4433 Files Page 2 September 28, 1979 The nominating committee recommended the following members as officers for 1979-80: Chairman - Vice Chairman - Program Chairman - J. F. Gabbett - Georgia Pacific Warren Clark - Dow R. P. Becker - Diamond Shamrock Roy Henderson motioned they be elected by acclamation and Bob Laundrie seconded the motion. The motion passed. John Barr announced he will no longer be able to be the permanent representative for Air Products but will hopefully continue to take part in the meetings.
