Osar Hr. Loveland:
this is in response to your recent letter to Mr. H. R. Sraef concerning lead in paint that Du Pont supplies to your
We understand that* to date* our sales to your company have consisted entirely of 370-6007 Electrodeposition Enamel Walnut. This paint contains no lead as an added ingredient. While we do not routinely test our raw Materials for possible lead contamination, we have asked our suppliers to provide such data. Based on the incomplete response received to date, it appears that any such contamination is likely to be at a level which will make the lead concentration in our paint well below the 'permissible 0.06%,
Incidentally, it has been the policy of our company for many .years to restrict the lead content in paints sold for use on toys and children's furniture. Since 1970* we have ob served a further self-imposed limitation of 0.05% lead in finishes for products intended for use by children in the *teething age*. Prom a practical formulating standpoint, this
has meant a ham on use of any ingredients known to contain' lead.
I trust that the above answers your question, if we can be of further assistance, please let me know.
Very truly yours.
