Dear

. This letter is to inform you of the preliminary results of a recently completed developmental toxicity study.
Groups of 25 rats were dosed by gavage with solutions of the test material in deionized water equivalent to 0, 3, 8, 20, or 50 mg/kg on days 7-16 of gestation (copulation plug detection was designated as day 1). Surviving females were sacrificed on day 22 of gestation and the live fetuses examined for external, visceral and
skeletal alterations. Mean fetal weights were significantly reduced for the 50 mg/kg/day group. Mean female fetal weights were significantly reduced for the 20 and 50 mg/kg/day groups. In addition, female fetal weights at 8 mg/kg/day were reduced but this reduction was not statistically significant. There was no other evidence of developmental toxicity at any dose level. Signs of maternal. toxicity in the form of decreased weight gain and decreased

feed consumption were observed in the 20 and SO mg/kg dose groups. In addition, the incidence of non-specific clinical observations was significantly increased for the two highest dose groups.
We will forward a copy of the final report to EPA when it is available.
