From the brief description I gave him, he had two recommendations: the first was to specify that the strain of rats also be selected for a low incidence of spontaneous tumors, as we have already done for the mice, and the other was to expose the mice for 18 months instead of 12 months. If it is not possible to use an 18 month exposure span for the mice, then he feels they should be exposed 12 months and retained until the end of the 18 month period.
