Hourly employees will receive a pay boost of 14 cents an hour, while eligible non-exempt salaried personnel will receive $24.27 per month The basis for this adjustment is the change in the consumer price index for urban wage earners and clerical workers from June 1988 to December 1988. It is our assessment that there never has been, nor is there now, any significant or harmful risk to human health at the Westlnghouse ABB Muncie Plant. In this regard, recent research in the Health and Environment Digest, August, 1988, by Renate D. Kimbrough, concludes that "... despite positive laboratory animal data and except for chloracne (a skin rash), exposure to PCB's has led to no convincing clinically demonstrable, chronic health effects in humans." In addition, all evaluations by state and federal agencies related to PCB's have found the Muncie Plant in compliance with regulatory requirements. Therefore, we are not aware of any medical necessity for employees to have a health evaluation for PCB exposure. Please be assured we will continue, as we have in the past, to a policy commitment for the protection of our employees against the harmful effects of any hazardous substance. ***
