HIGHLIGHTS Continued fluctuation of lead prices. Elastomer inventories moved from Rosemont to Chicago Plant. Blood lead levels show appreciable increase.

We are concerned with this reversal of blood lead levels trends and are actively pursuing correction witfe all employees. It say be attributed to a let down over the Dec. - Jan. holiday season.

IV. TECHNICAL
A. WAXED EXTRDDATES
Contact has been made with Nichols - Zenith regarding a gear pump. Extrudate samples have been sent for their evaluation and recommendations, and a trial is being arranged. Estimate date of completion is April 15th.
B. PPG
Results of our preliminary studies on the correlation of pH with grind, oil absorption and insolubles were pre sented to Pto on January 12th. We see no correlation at this time, work is continuing.
C. SLM
MSDS, specifications and test methods for Cyastab SLM have been supplied to Goodrich, and an order has been received for 50 lbs. for the Western Electric trial vilt will be shipped week of 1/26.

We have been informed verbally of a complaint regard ing electricals on Cyastab 523-0, but have not received the written complaint at this time. As we now understand the complaint, 523-0 / Tribase XLoiled is now being used in compounds where ancthc-r stabil izer has been used previously. In this compound electri cal properties are important, and the last 2 shipments of 523-0 have been found inferior to Tribase XL-oiled. Laboratory tests indicate that current 523-0 production is no different than production in previous years. Product modification will be required (Barium Stearate instead of Calcium StearateO. We are now awaiting a sample of Tribaae XL oiled which will be used as a control.

V. GENERAL
A. Effective February 1st. the Chicago Plant will assume responsibility for inventory and shippments of Elastomers which have been handled from the Rosemont D. C. First shipment of material into Chicago on 1/30..
Mr. Brewster and Amato visited the plant to review our inventory capabilities.
B. PERSONNEL
Hourly 12 (including 5 non- exempt working supervisors). 15 one on sick leave
C. LEAD PRICE
List price has fluctuated betwssa%23 & 28$ during the month - currently at 24$.
Joe Rhodes, Chemical Group purchasing and the writter will meet with the 3 major lead suppliers to discuss the future lead prices for 1984.
D. Jim Daly is proceeding very effectively in setting up our initial computer programs. We now have daily inventory control of finished goods and raw materials on the computer. Utility and. labor usage should be programed this week. Jim will attend a 3 day computer course at WI nest week.
