MM o ibject: PITTSBT GH CORNING CORPO WTION INTEROFFICE CORRESPONDENCE Mr. Roy E. Fuhs From Harry E. Porter Dow Chemical, Midland, Michigan Date September 10, 1969 Dear Roy: | recently received the following information from George Yung. "When I made a call on the subject company Tuesday, I was told that Dow Chemical will not buy any product that has any asbestos in it in the future. Their maintenance people (mostly Asbestos Workers) have been complaining for some time about asbestos and lung infections, etc. As you know there is a little hankey-pankey going on within all of the Asbestos Workers Local up to the international level. I was told at Dow Chemical that within six months no asbestos will be within their plant. This will include asbestos gaskets, gloves, insulation, etc. Just thought that you would like to know and we can expect this problem to spread to other plants. My informer was E. D. Stephenson, Purchasing Agent at Midland." I would appreciate comments from you as well as those receiving copies as they both call on Dow plants. Best regards. HEP:el cc: Mr. H.
