The writers spent the week of December 2 through 5, 1974 in Arizona work ing with the following three (3) accessory products: 1. Premix Topping, non-asbestos, raw gypsum formula 2. Wall Texture, non-asbestos formula 3. K-Spray, long asbestos fiber formula The scheduled field tests of the Premix Dual Purpose, raw gypsum formula had to be cancelled because the material did not arrive until December 6. Time-D.C. Truck Lines had split the shipment from Santa Ana and the por tion containing the Premix Dual Purpose was misplaced in one of their terminals. Attachment (A) lists the sub-contractors that we worked with and shows the products tested with each of them. Comments relating to field performance of these products follow along with our recommendations concerning customer acceptance: 1. PREMIX TOPPING - NON-ASBESTOS RAW GYPSUM This new Premix Topping formula worked well in all respects. KSQQMMENPAllQH: Release this product in Arizona for general sales on extended field test basis when approved by management. 2. WALL-XEXXURE.- ,NQN-ASBEgTQS PPM This formula was sprayed with both a large capacity air pump truck rig and a stator tube trailer rig. The texture sprayed well and looked good after it dried. Both spray men liked this new product. RECOMMENDATION: Release this product in Arizona for general sales on extended field test basis when approved by management. D-1039 ARIZONA TRIP REPOl December 9, 1974 Page 2 3. K-SPRAY - LONG ASBESTOS FIBER FORMULA This K-Spray formula is well accepted by Arizona customers. Mileage was determined to be approximately 240 square feet per bag on the 2400 square foot house sprayed by Canyon Drywall. This mileage was considered to be satisfactory to this sprayman. BECCMMEWPmQN: Continue to manufacture this K-Spray formula at Santa Ana until a new non-asbestos formulation has been approved by management. 4. PREMIX DUAL PURPOSE - RAW GYPSUM FORMULA Although we could not conduct field tests of this product in Arizona, we feel that only the well accepted limestone formula should be sold there until the Long Beach plant has the capability of supplying raw gypsum. By this time the formula will be changed anyway to a non asbestos product.
