The reason for this finding is that the asbestos fn brake and clutch linings hLfecr. is converted to a non-fiberous material by the high temperature involved in normal vehicle usage. Therefore, the automobile is not significant as a source of free asbestos. Ford has examined the total process of providing asbestos lining rp materials on its vehicles. From a medical standpoint, problems from 2t ox> o (V r~o o UJ o 5s nOaa aauj. exposure to asbestos may have to be overcome in the mine, in the making of the linings and in our supplier plants. Free asbestos from vehicle usage and brake service is not considered a problem. Mr. E. J. Selikoff is- an internationally recognized authority on this subject and has agreed with these findings.
