Sesler SUBJECT VFA Monitoring Complex Solvent Vinyl Area Current plans call for the electrical work on the VFA complex to begin the week of May 27. Sample tie-ins will begin within the following two weeks with physical completion of the complex scheduled for June 20; and actual operation, by June 27. There have been some changes in the plan outlined in my letter of April 7, however. Based on data collected at the Suspension Unit, the loss of accuracy experienced with increasing sample tube length Is not a result solely of tube length. New tubing was used in the solvent tests and showed a greater loss of accuracy than the existing "aged" tubing used In the suspension tests. These latter data could uphold the accuracy of poly tubing, showing 90% at 800 feet (see graph attached). Because of this correlation, it has been decided to run poly tubing sample lines of the required length, rather than uniform lengths of poly tubing, or stainless steel tubing. Charlie McKibben is presently conducting tests to determine the cause of this phenomenon and will issue a full report at a later date. LJK/st Attachment Or. L. (J.
