Del offered to pro pose a series of tests In the unit located In St. Charles which consists of a kiln and gas Incinerator In series, but Is lacking means for scrubbing BC1 gas, Clint Kemp demonstrated separation of Aroclors from water solutions by porous media treated by vapo-phase coupling. Appears promising. Mr. John Birdsall, Vice President VARF, visited to discuss ~ further work In environment monitoring of Lake Michigan. Incineration tests were observed In Tulsa. Aroclors 1242 and 1260 and Inerteen PPO burned easily. Gas samples to be analyzed to determine degree of destruction. Discussions with Marketing, Manufacturing and Research representatives are leading to concensus on methods for handling returned fluids for reclaim. Meeting in Duluth, Minnesota was professional and objective. Obviously, PCS's are being Investigated by many agencies. Scientists present were concerned that limits on PCB In food would be established prematurely. Meeting with-Drs. Olcutt and Rlsebrough was successful in that we conveyed to them our interest and concern and offered to cooperate In exchanging methodology and samples.
