Subj6Cti Asbestos Task Force Meeting Scheduled for January 14, 1987
As you are aware, OSHA has not released the guidelines for enforcing its new asbestos standards. The guidelines were originally expected by September, 1986, but are now not scheduled to be issued before the end of February, 1987.
To make sure our concerns about the contents of the guidelines and the failure of OSHA to publish them in a timely manner are made known to OSHA, we have scheduled a Task Force meeting on January 14, 1987 to begin at 9:30 a.m. at the ORC Washington Offices. Two representative of OSHA, including Deputy Director for Field Operations, Leo Carey, have agreed to discuss the draft of the guidelines which will be current at that time.
Please return the attached attendance form if you expect to be at the meeting. If I am able to obtain a copy of the draft guidelines in time, I will send it to you before the meeting.
