1 ask you to re-think your decision to permit Devon Energy to reverse its decision to invest in technology to avoid future emissions of hazardous chemicals. Among the targeted chemicals is benzene, a known carcinogen. Devon Energy has already been found to have committed five separate environmental violations in the past few years. Investment in a system to detect and reduce future leaks is admirable, and permission by the government to eliminate such an improvement is scandalous.
Our children and grandchildren - yours and mine - deserve a clean environment. It is especially puzzling in light of the agreement that had already been reached between Devon Energy and the EPA. You are wrong to permit it.
