sub^t Total Hydrocarbon Emission Monitoring Report
Attached Is a report giving the results of a survey to determine hydrocarbon emissions from pump seals, control valves, and thermal relief valves in VCM service.
A weekly monitoring system was established to determine the extent of VCM emissions from valves and pump seals. A Century unit analyzer, measuring total hydrocarbons is used to obtain the data. The results will be written and distributed weekly.
Although numbers have been used to determine the extent of the leakage, the results are not quantitative since the Century'unit is not specific for VCM.
Of the controllers inspected, three appeared to have no appreciable leaks. The only noticeable increase in the reading of the relief valves occurred when the monitor probe was placed directly in the relief vent. Attached is the'individual readings for the week January 26, 1975.
