On 14 October 2020, the European Commission adopted the Chemicals Strategy for Sustainabity Oneofits main pillrsof action concems endocrine disrupors incuding improving the respective egisative framework. The Joint Research Centre, through a Fitness Check', assessedwhether relevant EU legislation on endocrine disruptors delivers is overall objective of protecting human heath and the environment by minimising exposure to these chemicals. This assessment was used as a basis o develop the actions announced in the Staegy. One of the central actions isth establishmentof a egally binding hazard idenifcatinof endocrine disruptors, based on the definition of the WHO, across all legislation. We are already working together with Member States' experts towards a proposal to include this ienticaton of endocrine disuptors under the Ciassifcaton, Labeling and Packaging of chemicals (CLF) Regulation and, as a sscond step, to thegobalsystem (UN Globally Harmonised System). In parallel, we are also working on a proposal to ensure tht additonal information to be required under the REACH Registration process wil allow the identification of substances as endocrine disruptors F `Science Policy We wil aiso review and stiengthen information requirements across legislation (eg. cosmetc products, food coniact materials, plant prolecon products and biocidal products) fo alow the identification ofendocrine dstupiors in relevant lagisiaions.
