Br Leroy U. Gardner, Director Saranac Laboratory Saranac Lake, N.Y.
Dear Dr. Gardner:
I enclose copy of our Drawing 41221-C, which snows the details of the construction which will be used in making the aluminum ball mill for you. This i-s a little different from the way which we planned to make it and the way which I understand it was made in Canada, but we had some material on hand from which we could make it most simply in this m y .
Ion will note that what they have done is to spin two pans with flanges, cut off the bottoms and then weld the two cylinders together. This will give a Yery strong const ruction, and one which will balance better and run truer than if we tried to roll up sheet into a cylinder.
I think with this blue print your mechanical people could proceed with their construction without waiting to actually receive the mill, if you wish them to do so.
