My name is Ralf Mangual, and I manage legal policy projects here at the Manhattan Institute. I just got off the phone with Millan Hupp who kindly returned my call in regards to an invite our President would like to extend to Administrator Pruitt. She asked me to send an e-copy of the letter (see attached) your way. We're thinking late May but are very flexible in terms of timing. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me at any time if you have any questions or need more information. Thanks in advance for your time, and I hope we'll have the pleasure of hosting Administrator Pruitt again soon. Kind regards, -Ralf Rafael A. Mangual, J.D. Scott Pruitt Environmental Protection Agency Office of the Administrator 1200 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W. Washington, DC 20460 Dear Administrator Pruitt, I hope this letter finds you well, and that you are settling nicely in to your new role with the Administration. Let me begin by saying that I was personally very pleased when I first heard that you had been nominated to lead the EPA. When you addressed the Institute's audience in December of 2015, our members and scholars were particularly encouraged by your commitment to the principles of federalism, and the efforts you led as Oklahoma Attorney General to enforce the limits on the powers of the agency you now lead. As such, it is my personal honor to invite you back to the Institute to discuss your vision for the EPA moving forward, and how your commitments to Federalism and the Rule of Law will carry over into your work as EPA Administrator. What we envision is an evening discussion event in mid / late May between you and one of our Senior Fellows, Mr. Oren Cass, whose work focuses on environmental policy. However, we would also be open to the idea of you giving a standalone speech if you prefer it. As I'm sure your schedule is incredibly busy, we are quite flexible with respect to timing, and would be willing to work with you in any way that we can to accommodate your schedule in order to bring what I'm sure would be a fantastic event to fruition. As you know, the Institute prides itself on being able to expose our audience to the most thoughtful takes on matters of public policy, delivered by the most notable thought leaders and holders of public office. With that in mind, I am personally quite proud that we can count you among the public leaders the Institute has had the privilege of featuring--a group which includes sitting Supreme Court Justices Alito and Thomas, House Speaker Paul Ryan, several sitting and former state governors, and prominent CEOs, including Rupert Murdoch and Hank Greenberg. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. I sincerely hope you will be able to accept this invitation, and that we can have the honor of hosting you once again in the near future. Should you or your team have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly, or to Rafael Mangual who can be reached via email at rmangual@manhattan-institute.org or by phone at (646) 839-3358.1 look forward to hearing from you soon.
