This a 14" clutch of Mack design (CL505) offered as an option on the Scania ENDT475 (140 HP) engines. The standard clutch used in this application is a Rockford 14" TT, Mack CL471. You have recently released a total of 203 units with delivery scheduled for approximately 20 a month from last November through August. We will be able to supply approximately 23 units the first part of this month We will not be able to supply additional units until late April or May. We have had very low usage on this clutch during 1972. Mack Somerville is using approximately 80 to 100 of these per year. At this time we must make a casting buy on the cover for this unit. This casting buy must be made in a minimum quantity of 350 pieces, and carries a lead time of a minimum of four months. As this item is extremely difficult to obtain on short notice, we would like to ask that you extend to us an annualized schedule for production so that we may obtain the proper material needed to meet your requirements. I would also like to call to your attention that engineering is investigating the possibility of using a Spicer 14" 2-plate clutch in this application, (Mack CL-69). I mention this only so you are aware of the situation and .forecast your annual requirements accordingly. At this time we have investigated all possibilities of moving delivery up on the current order. We feel our late April or May delivery is very realistic, and possibly you may want to make your customers aware of the delay.
