Memorandum to you of October 22, 1948. 2. Up to this time we have not received authorisation for continuation of tne program for the period May 1949 to May 1950. Under date of May 9, 1949, we received a letter from Mr. Bowes' seer tary stating that Mr. Bowes was out of the city for several weeks' rest on doctors' orders and that she would call the matter to his attention inruediately upon his return.
