MINUTES of the MARKETING RESEARCH COMMITTEE MEETING NATIONAL INSULATION MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION Washington, D. C October 3, 1961 The meeting was called to order at 9:15 A. NIMA PRODUCT LIST OF TRADE NAMES The list of product trade names was reviewed by Mr. Aires, and will be completed and distributed at the next Committee meeting. MARKET END USE Mr. J. Conway will revise the list in accordance with the discussion that took place and will be presented at the next Committee meeting. The Committee is of the opinion that statistical reporting should be on this basis once a year. PRODUCT DEFINITIONS Mr. Barnhart reported that he will send the Committee of the list of product definitions that had been approved by the T Sc R Committee. PHYSICAL UNITS The Committee is of the opinion that the statistical reports should include physical units on a once a year basis. 2 JOINT INDUSTRY k GOVERNMENT REPORTING Messrs. B. D. Kaplan and C. L. Gnam, of the Business and Defense Services Administration, and C, Wildes and K. Willis of the Bureau of Census were introduced to the Committee. Discussion with representatives of the Bureau of Census revealed that they would be willing, within limitations, to modify the Census of Manufactures reporting forms pertaining to insulating materials. Mr. B. Kaplan indicated that the Business and Defense Services Administration could make surveys for the industry at a cost dependent upon the scope of the project. * # # * Of # A letter will be written to the Bureau of Census and the Business and Defense Services Administration outlining NIMA's thoughts with regard to modification of the Census of Manufactures Reports and the types of construction statistics program that might be desirable. OTHER BUSINESS It was agreed that the next meeting of the Committee will be on November 14, 1961 in New York, N, Y. Included on the Agenda for the meeting will be: 1. Presentations for the NIMA January Meeting. Each Committee member is to prepare a presentation on the assignments they have been working on throughout the year. 2. Economic outlook for 1962. Each Committee member is to prepare such a report for collation at the meeting. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted
