CYFSPH ASSOCIATION SAFETY BZISTIS A. The ehairsaa requested that the secretary relate the esber cospany response for safety articles to he used in the Bulle tin. Following a brief discussion by the cestittee, it was their rec ostentation that each aeober carp any stimulate esployee partici pation by urging the plant esployees to write and subeic safety articles to the Association. B. The cossittee reviewed the Bulletin forsat and it was the consensus that it was satisfactory in its present fora. One anaber suggested that a possible change be considered when the next Bulletin oast head is -printed. The secretary Indicated that present Bulletin stock supply would be depleted at the end of the fiscal year, and at that tist, coacittee suggestions would be solicited. The coKittee requested that the secretary construct a chart shoving the Industry frequency racing over the past four years, *s related to the all industry frequency rating reported by the National Safety Council, and print this chart in the Safety Bulletin. The secretary indicated that such a chart was already being considered for the October Issue. He informed the committee that the award coat the Association $20.00 to purchase and sail, and re quested that they sight consider adopting an award that eight have greater utility for the winner, such as an ash tray or pen set. The eoesietee, after such discussion, directed the secretary to obtain a less costly certificate and also purchase an ash tray for the award winners. Following a thorough review of the last three editions of the Safety Sulletin, the cessittec selected one article by ballot. The article "Did Feu Bet Your Life?" by Val Robertson, Assistant Pro duction Superintendent, The Flintkote Company, Blue Diamond Gypsum Division, Fremant, California (August 1967) wen ehc award. 1-. Robertson will receive a certificate and inscribed ash tray for his contribution to safety. 3. ATP. ATT STT"1V The ehairsan cited a few* pollution problems involving plants on a local level. He stressed the importance of all coraittee cabers keeping abreast with local, state, and federal pollution progress. One member noted a recent preblca involving the asbestos in dustry where e number of lur.g carcinoma eases had beer, reported by inhabitants of the neighborhood surrounding r. asbestos plant. It was further noted chat clinical tests and investigations had resulted in legal action against thu manufacturer by the claimants. The chalmar. indicated chat air and water pollution problems would have a dramatic effeet on all industries and that ehc committee should take the initiative to meat any such problems head or. if they should occur in the gypsua industry. Following e discussion of pollution problems in various in dustries, it was cite consensus that the safety committee should have e sore active pregrea in- this area, outlining the problems that exist and what steps have been taken to solve choc.
