Dear John: You may hear from me hy telephone before you receive this letter; but in any case I am merely calling your attention to a memoran dum prepared in relation to my trip to Baton Rouge. In addition to these comments which are to be dealt with by you in confidence, I should point out that I visited all of the activities In the entire plant area and discussed what I saw and certain aspects of my reactions with Dr . Ivankin and with other people at the plant. Unless ray judgment is failing, it is my feeling that the work of the Medical Department at Baton Rouge i3 quite generally satisfactory to the plant personnel not only in the case of du Pont employees but among the Ethyl group as well. There seems to be no immediate problem; and it may be that our general medical problem there is in the process of solving itself. Things are not perfect and there are a number oi aspects of the work that can well be filled out and also to some degree modified. However, I think we have a rather good basis on which to build.
