Dear Dr. Hamilton:- I hesitate to trouble you again about the matter of denatured alcohols but Mr. 0. H. Doll of the Pittsfield Works has now raised the question of substitution of formula Ho. .1-A for Ho. 5 , the chief denaturant of Ho. 1-A being Isopropanol - 9.05$ by volume. The Ho. 1-A formula can be obtained in tank cars and would be used without ventilation protection. ; I find very little in my reference books on Isopropanol. Tf I remember correctly the rule is,that the higher up the alcohol series one goes, the greater the poisonous hazard. If it were not for its action of pre delection on the optic nerves, methyl alcohol would be the least poisonous of all. Am I wrong in this recolleotion?
