Inc. Texaco Chemical Company Union Carbide Corporation THE PARTNERSHIP FOR PLASTICS PROGRESS THE PARTNERSHIP BOARD provides strategic direction and general oversight for Partnership programs. The Board is comprised of the most senior officer from each participating company, and four elected officers of The Society of the Plastics Industry (if their companies are not otherwise represented). Board responsibilities include retaining and broadening membership, facilitating inter-company communications and developing an equitable funding system for Partnership programs. The Finance and Membership Committee makes recommendations to the Board on the financing and budget for Partnership activities. The committee actively pursues prospective member companies and makes recommendations to the Board on membership criteria and priorities. THE COORDINATING GROUP develops and recommends policies and programs for the Board's approval. The Coordinating Group consists of the most senior executives in the plastics industry. The Coordinating Group also is responsible for overseeing the Partnership-related activities of the SPI President who, with the task forces and SPI staff, is responsible for putting the plan approved by the Board into effect. The Product Stewardship Task Force develops and recommends to the Coordinating Group initiatives to facilitate various private and public programs to recover and reuse plastic materials. The task force works to ensure that these programs are responsive to public concerns and input, protective of the environment and public health and safety, and technologically and economically feasible. The Program Committee works with and oversees the activities of the Partnership Coordinating Group to address health, safety and environmental concerns related to plastics and communicate the positive attributes of the plastics industry and its products. The Advocacy Task Force works to develop and propose to the Coordinating Group an advocacy program that construc tively addresses major legislative, regulatory and ballot initiatives through grassroots com munications, legal remedies and Partnership message communications, among other tools. The Industry Partnership Committee provides senior-level outreach to the industry organizations reliant upon the public acceptance of plastics. The Committee seeks to involve these organizations in the overall Partnership program with the goal of coordi nating efforts to the mutual benefit of all. The Outreach Task Force is charged with developing and implementing a long term, positive, performance-based outreach program that will enhance public preference for plastics consistent with the vision and mission of the Partnership for Plastics Progress.
