Engineering is about 98% complete. Some work still remains on the platforms around the caustic coolers and cn the mastic kettles. P-404 work is nearly complete with the work on the slurry pumps the biggest item. 2. The materials situation appears good. Hutchins went to Elliott to witness the test on the Mercury Cell compressor. All phases of the test went well. 3. All planning for P-821 shutdown load-cut is complete and the first shutdown will come about four (4) weeks alter construction returns to work. 4. The biggest problem on the first load-cut,which will require ten (10) days, seems to be electricians. We will require four to five crews. Most of the major electrical items on the plant outage will be at the powerhouses. Instrumentation is 75% complete overall. b. Control room change over work is in 1inal stages. All piping drawings are complete aid ha\re been issued to the field, 2, The chlorine scale tanks layouts and flew sheets are complete and out for approval. The design of the tank foundations is complete and drawings of these are near completion. Hew piping ;o scale tanks has been started. 3. River water booster pump engineering is complete on the mechanical, end and 80jo complete on instrumentation. Battery Limits conditions are as follows: 1. Design a. Model is finished, but piping people are using it to make piping drawings. Fifty drawings remain to be made. This will take approximately two to three weeks and will put the model in Lake Charles about the first part of October. b. There seems to be a small problem with cable trays and conduit interfering with piping access under the contr>1 building. This is being looked into and recommendations will be made. c. Structural design work is near completion. Only the substation and some small items remain. d. Electrical section is making good progress. 175 drawings are on the boards out of the 250 total planned for the job. 2. Purchasing a. Purchasing continued to buy instrumentation items. Approximately 90$ of equipment for the job is on order. All the bulk items on bills of mater: are being purchased and most B/M's are complete. 3. Construction a. All shop fabricated pipe has gone put to contractors. b. Chicago Bridge & Iron has six (6) oanks fabricated. They will be shipp< when the strike ends. At this time they will finish the remainder of the fabrication. Braden Steel and siding contractor will try to return as soon as possible after the strike ends; possibly one week after. c. Leonard's construction schedule (per Bosler) shows July 1, 1968 as probable start up date. PPG will push phis for June 15 due to the labc situation. d. One-third, of the anode parts are now assembled. We would like to fabricate about two-thirds of the anodes and ] ossibly lay off at that time due to a storage problem at the shop. Materials lacking in this area are lift pump motors. c. A shutdown item was eliminated by having maintenance tie in the 12" steam valve to the 400# steam line feeding organics during boil out. y 2. Sargent & Lundy's critical path shows March 27, 1968 as completion date. This is assuming work had started September 4, 1967. 3- Delivery of all major equipment on job is how well under control 4. Combustion engineering will erect the boilers. The Sargent & Lundy Report is as follows: 1. The riverside Unit //3 and Powerhouse "A" electrical distribution work is on schedule. 2. Engineering design is 54$ complete; purchasing 8l$. 3. Purchases since last report are: a. The line control equipment b. Transmission line materials c. Motor control centers d. Junction boxes e. Structural section is completing extension of control room as well as the electrical bus and transmission line supports. c. Electrical design continues with drawings being issued to the field for construction. d. Mechanical erection is working on pipe design and instrumentation. 5. Construction activity is stopped, hut S. & L.'s field force continue general office routine. Materials are h;ing unloaded by PPG personnel as required.
