This notice is to inform you that asbestos abatement is scheduled to take place at the Decatur plant commencing 1-1-2000 to 2-29-2000 in the following area Banbury Calendars Stockcutting Bead Room Tubers Scrap Room Curing Tire
Room Final and Receiving Decatur has contacted a licensed asbestos
abatement contractor to complete the project They will be following OSHA and EPA approved procedures that permit abatement activities to occur while other nonasbestos activities continue in the plant OSHA and EPA approved procedures are designed to prevent asbestos exposure to those working in the adjacent areas
The abatement contractors will be using barrier tape and warning signs to demarcate restricted areas You and your employees are restricted from these areas It is your responsibility to communicate these activities and restrictions to your employees and
any contractors you may have on site

Talked to Marty 7-27-00 at 4:15 ref the AB bags He said the operator described them as White Bags with the Danger Asbestos warning label on them There was not a generator label or abatement label When the operator seen these they were handled as AB The longer bags that supposedly contained AB were yellow app 3 4 long All the bags in our AB trailer are Black All bags near the end of the AB closed trailer out by 108 do have the Generator tag on them Your probably right they brought them in or they did not contain AB

In compliance with 29CFR 1910.1001 OSHA Asbestos Standard please be advised that the Decatur facility was erected prior to 1980 and does contain containing
material ACM Bulk sampling of material has identified locations of ACM where bulk
sampling has not been conducted and material is questionable that material is presumed containing material PACM Most PACM is in the form of thermal system pipe insulation TSI however it is NOT limited to TSI All areas where identified PACM is located is located is clearly marked with warning postings see attachments These areas currently include the Powerhouse and Curing Department pits
Insulation is maintained in an encapsulated condition to minimize risk of exposure Air sampling completed at Decatur has demonstrated that exposure levels in locations
were ACM is present do NOT exceed the OSHA established exposure limits
Disturbance via cutting drilling tearing etc. May expose yourself and other occupants of this facility to airborne asbestos fibers therefore such disturbance is NOT to occur as
part of your contracted activities
We require that you contact the Decatur Asbestos Coordinator Pete Brinkoetter at 217 425-1459 prior to removal of any fixtures pieces of equipment thermal system insulation and ceiling or floor Pete Brinkoetter will first confirm whether the material is asbestos free If the material is ACM Decatur will have the material removed by a licensed asbestos abatement contractor prior to your commencement of the project
