Hi Rick, I think a number of DOI bureaus would have some interesting things to share about innovative approaches to dealing with invasives. For example, USGS could talk about eDNA as a monitoring tool or strategies for killing brown tree snakes in Guam or Burmese pythons in the Everglades, Reclamation could talk about engineering strategies for dealing with zebra mussels at dams, NPS could talk about its Exotic Plant Teams that are like weed SWAT teams, etc. On the non-federal side, I'd suggest Elizabeth Brown from the State of Colorado, the Nebraska Weed Management Association (RRISC gave them an award a couple of years ago) and Mussel Dogs.
I am happy to be a prospective DOI witness at a hearing.
In terms of enlisting technical support from DOI to lead up to a hearing, the SEPW staff might want to reach out to Micah Chambers, our acting head of the office of Congressional Relations. Micah can be reached at micah chambers@ios.doi.gov, or 202 208 5348. Micah can rally the DOI contingent, with my support.
