President Trump's trip to Poland is a chance to seize the moment
President Trump's first visit to Poland has been called a softball -- a chance to visit a friendly, right-leaning nation and receive a warm welcome. Butthat understates the visit's potential. More than just an easy stopover, it's a chance for the United States to strengthen military ties with central and eastern Europe. The Poles appear willing to support an even larger NATO presence. America should jump at the opportunity.

Transnational organized crime presents a serious threat to the United States and the rest of the Western Hemisphere. In Mexico, drug cartels have latched onto globalization as a way to move their product across borders and launder their assets through the global financial system. AEI Visiting Fellow Roger Noriega details the threats the US faces to its border, its communities, and its financial system -- and what can be done to combat them.

What Xi Jinping's censorship says about the future of China
In post-Mao China, censorship of the press has become a way to mask bad economic policies. Censorship has been less pervasive when leadership enacted reforms that led to economic prosperity, but when such progress stalls, the regime opts to control the media to curb public discontent. Censorship became even more widespread under current President Xi Jinping, who took over just as the economy began to slow.

Almost 80 percent of respondents said that public investment should be made equally or more heavily in early childhood than higher education.
