This program required that various environmental media on and off the 3M Decatur, Alabama marnufactwring site were to be sampled and analyzed as defined by au extensive work plsn . This work has culminated in *Pea Consultation Process during which a panel of expcits provided comments and recommendadons on the SLHEA end vhetiter the Charge question posed in the MOU had been asewaod fully. This entire program has been documented in the Electronic Docket OPPT 2004 0112 . Swe the 3M Decatur site also was used for the manufi.wture of perfluoroalkyl sulfnates, 3M voluntarily conducted a separate enviromnentsl monitoring program of substances that had been or were being manufac,,tuf+ed at that site. The substaum t* vVWc included in this environmental monitoring pWanx were pemfluorooctane suulfonate OOS), perfluorohexane stilfonete (PFHS), and perfluorobawm sulfonate (PFSS) . 'ile analytical data and reports, and the environmental assessment of this monitoring effort are being sulmniitted to the AR-226 Docket to augment the information relative lo fluarochemicals at this location. Enclosed is the report in hard copy and a CD ofthe electronic version. it should be noted that 3M has entered into an agreement with the Alabama Department of Environmental M~age~t to carry-out a project of capping the former sludge incorporation fields on11e plant site. This project includes the installation ofa protective liner over the fields that will then be covered with two fieet ofclew soils to support growth ofnatural vegetahon. A groundwater extraction and treatment system is to be installed to mtnimi~e the migration of groundwater to the west ofthe site boundary.
