R/D Subicf GC/MS Analysis of SCWTW (11/19/78) For Vinyl Chloride Dear Mr. Carlson: This letter documents the GC/MS data collected on the SCWTW effluent (11/19/78) submitted for the analysis of vinyl chloride (VCM). The wastewater sample was analyzed via the same sampling and operational procedures as documented in our Project Report (File No. 25447) on the qualitative and quantitative determination of VCM in wastewater. (1) Our analysis shows the presence of VCM in the SCWTW effluent at a concentration of^14 parts per billion (0.014 mg/1). The quantitative calculation is determined by using the calibration established back in August, '78; so as our instrument sensitivity has undoubtedly decreased somewhat since that time, our data is probably lower than the actual contained amount. However, we have not observed a significant reduction in sensitivity, which would indicate that "**0,025 mg/1 would be a maximum value. ucc 029489 Mr. L. E. Carlson page 2 These data are on file in our laboratory (Spl. No. 462) should further study prove necessary. We trust these data will prove sufficient for your needs. Very truly yours, BIBLIOGRAPHY (1) Wilkes, B. E., Priestley, L.
