Weintraub, Subject: "Gulf Alpha Olefin"-, 12/8/70 From the referenced letter (Reference (1)), it is now apparent that Gulf will not guarantee on an across-the-board basis compliance of their alpha olefin with the UV absorbance test of the Federal Register. As we discussed on 1/5/71, Gulf's position should not jeopar dize us considering that they agree to our accepting a shipment based on a preshipment sample and, of course, subsequently on . the bulk truck. When, and if, our needs for alpha olefin in crease (Reference (2)), however, a potential problem will be in scheduling deliveries, i.e., if we reject the shipment and they don't have additional alpha olefin in inventory.
