. 7?ys#e/ALC-- 262. Hose Saddle Modification - 129 The intent of this item is to extend the existing midships hose saddles about 7 1/2 feet aft on both sides and about 5' forward on the port side. Remove the existing top railing from the aft end of the port and starboard hose saddles to the accommodation openings (FR 87 1/2). The top and intermediate rails are to be repaired as necessary and integrated into the new hose saddle extensions. Remove the top railing from the forward end of the port hose saddle to the rail stanchion at FR 91 1/2 (about 5'). Fabricate and install 3 saddle end pieces of 1/4" m.s. plate (about 7 sq. ft. each) at the terminations of the new hose saddle, FR 87 1/2 both port and starboard and FR 91 1/2 port. The plates shall be patterned after the existing end pieces. Fabricate and install a hose saddle top rail of split 12" SH 40 pipe so as to form an extension of the present rails about 7 1/2" aft port and starboard and 5' forward on the port side. Install a 12" deep web under the split pipe and cap with 1 1/2" pipe as in the existing arrangement. Install 3 eye bolts or fabricate 1/2" round stock bales on the aftermost end plates to fasten the accommodation opening chains. Install a 16" SH40 suction line in both 9C and IOC by teeing off the "A" cargo line about FR 69 1/2 (IOC) and FR 73 1/2 (9C). The suction shall be run as far aft and to port in the tanks as existing structure and fittings will permit. Each suction shall be fitted with a gate valve, an angle stop and bellmouth [See B/M, reference (1)]. The valves shall be operable from a deck stand through bar stock reach rods.
