Gentlemen: Approximately eight years ago, we received a gift set of four ceramic coffee mugs. My husband has since used 'these mugs for his morning cup of cof fee. Recently, we began noticing what appeared to be a sticky coffee-colored residue on the drink ing edges of the cups after they had been washed in the dishwasher (the glaze also has a cracked appearande). This residue, if not completely washed from the cup, made it smell and taste like a dirty dishcloth. Please tell me where I might have these cups tested to see if there may be anything toxic in this resi due. Nith all the recent findings of bad ceramic products, I am concerned as to what effect, if any, this may have had on mv husband over the past several years of use.
